November 30, 2022 Weekly Update

Jared   -

Last night our church held our annual church conference meeting. Every United Methodist church hosts this meeting at least once a year to celebrate ministry, set goals, and conduct sacred business. We met in person and over zoom with our new District Superintendent Lynn Miller Jackson. Thanks to those who were able to attend!

To recap, the gathering approved our 2023 leadership roster and 2023 clergy compensation package. We celebrated all the outreach and ministry of our different ministry teams and committees. We gave thanks for the generosity of our congregation that enables us to keep a balanced budget and our commitment toward connection giving in our Mountain Sky Conference and the broader United Methodist Church. We passed the resolution to establish a permanent endowment fund entitled, “The Treasure Fund.” We also reiterated and prayed for our goals for 2023. Those priorities include:

  • Core Values: Continuing living into our Core Values
  • Building: Develop building projects that update & preserve a sacred, flexible & accessible space that enables us to tell God’s story among us & to the next generation
  • Next Generation Ministry: Through our Leadership Development team, learn about Fresh Expressions and discern the opportunity to develop one in Columbia Falls
  • Endowment: Upon approval of the Endowment Resolution, develop a plan to communicate ways members and friends of CFUMC can contribute to the “Treasure Fund” for a lasting legacy that builds a bridge to the next generation of Columbia Falls UMC

If you’d like to learn more, packets with more detailed information about the meeting are available from the office. God’s Spirit is certainly at work among us! Thanks be to God for your part in our shared ministry together!

Blessings,
