December 13, 2023 Weekly Update

Hello church,

Yesterday many of our church folks and members of the community gathered at the Klothes Kloset to say goodbye to a wonderful ministry. The Klothes Kloset is closing its doors this month after decades of ministry to our neighbors. That ministry included helping neighbors have affordable clothing and house items, and using proceeds to support many non-profits and causes in Columbia Falls and the canyon.

In between scriptures, prayers, and songs, many folks shared beautiful tributes and anecdotes about what the Klothes Kloset meant to them and their families. That ministry has been one of relationships – relationships between volunteers, employees, customers, and community organizations. We shared laughter and tears, and I was reminded of our theme from last Sunday’s worship focus – “How does a weary world rejoice? We find joy in connection.” The Klothes Kloset has been a hub of joyful connection for many years. Their work has helped people experience joy and dignity in the midst of difficult moments and crises. The Klothes Kloset and all those relationship connections will be missed. But we are grateful to God for the good work done by Church Women United through the Klothes Kloset, and we have hope that God is continuing to work through our community in new ways to meet needs and bring joy and compassion to all.

Advent Blessings,

Pastor Jared
