Hello church!
Last Sunday we continued our four-week series “Quest: The Awakened Traveler” by reflecting on the power of reflection – of sitting with strangers or experiences that don’t match our pre-conceived notions and expectations of culture, the world, or God.
Last week we heard Rick talk about the challenge of travel – not flight delays, car rentals, or strange meals but the way traveling opens us up to realize we aren’t the center of the world. Other people hold their own unique values, traditions, religions, customs. Reflection enables us to see common themes and appreciate the diversity of the God’s created world. Here’s that clip if you missed it:

Can you recall an experience that “decentered” you? Reminded you that not everyone lives with the same values, expectations, opportunities?
How did that make you feel?
Here’s a bonus clip. Rick is known for traveling to all the “fancy” palaces, cathedrals, and old quarters of European cities. But in this excerpt, Rick shares his reflections on encountering suffering during his travels, and reconciling those experiences with his faith and his actions.

We’ll wrap up our series this coming Sunday. Join us in person or online at 11am!
Blessings,
Pastor Jared
