Hello church!

What does it mean to let go of our worn-out money stories and steer our lives out of the worn-out ruts and rhythms we’ve grown accustomed to? That was our focus last Sunday as we moved from remembering our money stories to releasing the negative narratives and hangups we carry with us about money.

Like the young man who came to Jesus seeking eternal life, sometimes our possessions get in the way of a deeper faith. Jesus invited that young man to release his possessions, give to others, and then return to the path of discipleship. Sometimes we need to release the money stories in our lives to move past the roadblocks that keep us from a richer faith. In the graphic above you’ll find a poem about releasing what we hold too tight. I invite you to use this poem in a moment of prayer and reflection today.

I look forward to worshipping with you on All Saints’ Sunday. We’ll remember those church members and others we’ve lost over this past year. After worship, we’ll gather in the Fellowship Hall for a potluck as we share information about our capital campaign “For Generations to Come.” Celebrating former generations and preparing for the next generation of our congregation is a fitting way to honor God this Sunday!

Blessings,
Pastor Jared
