Hello church,
Last Sunday we reflected on the moment John the Baptist witnessed Jesus coming among John and his disciples. He exclaimed, “Look! The Lamb of God!” These words led to a chain reaction of grace as people began to get curious about following Jesus. Christ’s invitation was a gracious one – “Come and See.” (John 1: 39).
We also pondered the Jewish Seder Passover song Dayenu, which means it would have been enough. This phrase is a reminder that God’s acts among us, and God’s presence in our lives, is always enough. And while our acts of grace, invitation, or compassion may not fix a situation, or bring a cure, or make a disciple, those actions are enough, because they are part of a chain of hope-filled grace that God is weaving in God’s world. Andrew doesn’t have a polished speech—just an invitation. John offers a witness, Andrew offers an insight, Peter offers his curiosity. In God’s economy of grace, each small offering matters. Dayenu—it would have been enough.
If you are seeking ways to bring light and love to neighbors, or need reassurance about a situation or relationship, I invite you to join me in the prayer in the above graphic sometime this week.
Blessings,
Pastor Jared
