Happy Wednesday Church,

What makes a Methodist? That’s the question we began to reflect on last Sunday as we began our Stewardship Series “Five Marks of a Methodist.” We remembered how we are capable of loving God because God first loved us. That divine love is God’s grace, leading us on through salvation toward personal holiness and social action. With God’s love, we can rejoice and experience a joy that leads to peace, courage, and a living hope.

As young men, John Wesley and his brother Charles got serious about their faith and organized rigid days of accountability and outreach among their peers. But they wondered if they were missing a deeper joy. The spirit answered their prayers, and their faith deepened dramatically. The result was a rush of growth as other sough the refreshing waters of the Spirit at work in community. This movement is the basis of our DNA as Methodists. Our first two marks – A Methodist Loves God and A Methodist Rejoices in God – are a call to celebrate who God is, and rejoice in God’s eternal presence among us.

This Sunday we will gather after worship for our annual Town Hall Potluck. The Leadership Board will share visuals and details about the second half of our capital campaign renovation project, “For Generations to Come.” Bring an item to share – details are in the graphic above. We look forward to celebrating and sharing together!

Blessings,

Pastor Jared
