Learn more about how you can support Columbia Falls UMC and the next generation of ministry
Our world is changing, and so is our community. Families juggle multiple priorities. Communities evolve. Work and travel often stretch beyond traditional hours. Anxiety and uncertainty have grown across generations. In the middle of all this change, we ask: Where is God calling our congregation to share love and care? Are we ready to meet the moment and offer God’s steadfast love to the next generation of our community?
For several years, our Leadership Board has thoughtfully discerned how to meet the needs of our building, congregation, and community. Columbia Falls UMC has stood on the same corner since the 1890s—a remarkable legacy! Because of our local economy, building or buying elsewhere isn’t realistic. And truthfully, we wouldn’t want to move. We’re in the heart of Columbia Falls, exactly where we belong. We’ve invested in small and medium size maintenance renovation projects over the last ten years. We must continue caring for our buildings, just as generations before us did.
We believe we are called to “update and preserve a sacred, flexible, and
accessible space that enables us to tell God’s story among us and to the next
generation.” A safe, welcoming building helps us care for one another and worship together through every milestone of life. An attractive space opens doors to community partnerships and outside groups. Investing in our church shows that we are committed to welcoming new people, helping them experience God’s love through Christ, and serving our community for God’s kingdom.
For Generations to Come – Preparing today, so others may flourish tomorrow
We invite you to prayerfully support CFUMC’s capital campaign
“For Generations to Come.” Our goal is to strengthen our congregation’s mission and sustain a vibrant United Methodist presence in Columbia Falls for years ahead. Together, we can prepare our space for future generations of disciples who will join us in God’s inclusive, healing love. Based on our feasibility survey, the following projects are both needed and achievable:
Proposed Timeline
Survey results suggest we can pledge $200,000 over three years. If we reach that goal by November 30, the Leadership Board will pursue approval for the projects and a $275,000 loan from the Methodist Helping Methodist Foundation in early 2026. Choosing our Annual Conference’s foundation means flexible terms, and our interest payments support other loans, grants, churches, and clergy across our connection. Under United Methodist church polity, only members may vote to approve the projects and loan.
If the congregation approves the plan early next year, we expect to:
• March 2026: Make a 50% down payment to the roof contractor
• Summer 2026: Install the new roof (4–6 weeks)
• Summer/Fall 2026: Select contractor(s) and finalize plans for the Fellowship Hall and Kitchen renovations
• 2027–2028: Complete renovations
• 2028: Conclude the campaign and collect final pledges
This is an exciting season in the life of our church. Let’s trust God and use our gifts, skills, and wisdom to build a bridge of faith for the next generation of Columbia Falls United Methodist Church. Please prayerfully return the pledge card enclosed in your materials by November 30 or submit your pledge online through the website listed below.
